STAND provides a space on campus to bring together students who have a passion for justice and equality. Society members have the opportunity to explore the biggest challenges facing the world today, to connect with like-minded people to bring about positive change in the world and to develop personal and professional skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Introduction to Student Activism

There will be three panellists that will discuss their experience in activism.

How they got involved and what tips they have for students who want to get involved.

These panellists come from a variety of backgrounds; the stand organisation, the victims rights alliance and an organiser from trans and intersex pride.

We will have a Q&A towards the end and would love contributions from all those involved.

BLACK LIVES MATTER Panel Discussion

DCU STAND is hosting a virtual panel discussion to discuss the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement and how students can actively get involved in combatting racism both on-campus and off-campus.


We will be joined by a variety of speakers including:

Ellie Kisyombe: Activist, Political Candidate, and Co-Founder of Our Table, a community-driven, non-profit project aiming to highlight the need to end direct provision in Ireland. 

Marie Lyons: The Union of Students in Ireland VP for Welfare and Citizenship

Dr Vicky Conway: Dublin City University Lecturer of the School of Law and Government.

Amanda Ade: Activist, Podcast host, and Lifestyle content creator

April Lamai: a Dublin City University BCL Law & Society graduate. April has presented numerous webinars in light of this movement.
