We are currently in the process of planning the DCU Sailing 24-Hour Sail, and this year, we are dedicating it to supporting Hannah Leonard, a DCU alumna and sailor who suffered a serious brain injury in an accident last year. All funds raised from this event will go directly to Hannah’s family to assist with her recovery.

This year, we aim to make the 24-Hour Sail bigger than ever. The event will take place in Dún Laoghaire, encouraging participation from other colleges and sailors. We are actively working with the National Yacht Club to ensure the event is organised as safely as possible. The Dún Laoghaire Harbour authorities are supportive of the event and are considering providing floodlights on the pier to enhance safety throughout the night. Of course, the event remains weather-dependent.

The National Yacht Club appears to be on board, and we are in the final stages of confirming date and plans. We look forward to sharing more details soon and making this a truly impactful event for Hannah.

About Surf 'n Sail

Surf 'n' Sail is one of DCU's biggest and best clubs. The home of water sports in DCU!

Sailing:

We welcome anyone to join our sailing team. We compete in four inter-college team racing events per year in some of Ireland's most scenic locations. We also participate in the student yachting nationals.

We train weekly! If you can't make it, join us for the weekly "tactics 'n' canz". Sailing is a fantastic way to meet sailors from other colleges.

Surfing:

There are normally four surf trips a year. We go away for the weekend to the best surf spots in Ireland, how our trips run is party, surf, party, home!

There are plenty of other events that we run throughout the year, pub-quizzes, music bingo, beach cleans, and our annual Christmas swim to name a few.

Being a member of this club is like having another family. We have a close-knit community and great interclub relations with other clubs and societies at DCU. Joining will be the best decision you make this year! :P
