DCU weightlifting club is the club for the sport of Olympic Weightlifting.
We have beginners and club sessions so everyone is welcome to join and new members will learn all they need to know right from the basics so no past experience is required. Interested members can compete each year at the Inter-varsities competition in February where we compete in the Snatch + Clean and Jerk. Last year we won the overall club award and had a strong team winning plenty medals.
The club atmosphere is really welcoming and training times are also social where you can meet new people as well as getting a good training session in. This year is likely to change our regular two sessions per week for both beginners and the club sessions but we are hoping to be able to run plenty group sessions especially as the year continues. Each year we hold a max out session near the end of semester one where we lift heavy and get food as a club, we hope to be able to continue to do that this year.
