IN-PERSON
Activity
Location: The Royal Canal Ashbourne

The Canoe Club is now having Canoe Polo training sessions on Sunday mornings this semester from 10:00am till 12:30pm.

Canoe Polo is basically water polo but in a kayak and is fierce fun! The Sunday morning training sessions will give you more opportunities to improve your paddling skills and get a taste for the more competitive side of kayaking.

We have our polo training sessions outdoors in the Royal Canal at the Royal Canal Kayak Club Centre in Ashtown. You can either meet us at our containers, on the Glasnevin campus behind the library, at 10:00am for a lift to and from the Canal, or you can get the train to Ashtown and meet us at the Royal Canal Kayak Club Centre before 11:00am.

Make sure to book your spot on Eventbritre, the link for which will be found in the weekly email from the Canoe Club.

For safety reasons you need to be able to swim to come to these training sessions and we recommend coming to one of our pool sessions first before coming to a polo session, to get a feel for the basic kayaking techniques

All you need to bring are a change of clothes, swimming togs and an old t-shirt.

About Canoe Club

DCU Canoe club is one of DCU's BEST, most FRIENDLY and most ACTIVE WATER SPORTS CLUB and most importantly we have an immense amount of CRAIC. We REALLY welcome everyone as if they are apart of our mad water loving family straight away!

Kayaking:

We regularly train in Whitewater, Freestyle and Canoe Polo, and we do this by having countless river trips throughout the year, weekly pool sessions to practice freestyle tricks and canoe polo. Most of these training sessions are free for all Canoe Club members throughout the year! What a bargain!!

Large weekend trips:

We have numerous wild weekend trips throughout the year, including a kayak-surfing weekend on WEST Coast Trip, Camping trip on an Island, and Kayaking intervarsities (location for the weekend changes every year), where we kayak, have big nights out, parties, and of course kayak/surf some more. The social aspect of DCU Canoe is very important to us!

Our club is super welcoming to people of any standard from first timers to seasoned paddlers.

We are active both on and off the water so if you don't feel comfortable at our training sessions still feel free to turn up as a social member to our nights out.

Other events that we take part in throughout the year are: Halloween fancy dress party, Christmas party, Charity Christmas swim, pub meet ups and much more!!
