"A long table talk is modelled after a dinner party conversation where everyone’s voices are of equal importance. No hierarchy, no domination of the conversation, everyone’s input is invaluable. It’s participatory in nature but without the pressure of something like a presentation - you can have your say or step back and listen to others, and always rejoin the discussion if something comes to mind. It has a facilitator to kind of make sure the conversation stays on topic and stays within the time frame. But ultimately we all come to a virtual ‘table’ with a topic in mind to learn from the diverse perspectives of our peers. It’s just a fluid and dynamic way of having meaningful conversations and uplifting our own knowledge and experiences as a group."
