Wee Craicin Up is a superb charity event showcasing DCU student talent that has been successfully run by the Mental Health Society in previous years. This years chosen charity is SpunOut, supporting young people in Ireland. We have gotten enthusiastic approval from Dave in Nubar to host the event, to which he has offered to set up the all setting requirements. The evening begins with our chairperson thanking people for being there, before talking about the SpunOut Charity. Pieces of paper with a direct donation QR code will be set up around Nubar, and all will be encouraged to donate. The showcase aspect consists of different DCU student acts (singing, poetry, comedy) performing throughout the evening. All acts are voluntary, and are not rewarded with anything in particular, other than a few stickers and possibly a SpunOut tote bag for the act who donates the most. An interval will take place half way through the show. Our one expense is that we are hiring one extra security guard for the evening.
From a health and safety standpoint: a detailed risk assessment will be submitted alongside this event form, each persons COVID-19 certs will be scanned upon arrival, and all equipment used by any acts or used as a result of the event will be frequently sanitised throughout the evening.

The MHS will set up a stand in the U to raise awareness and collect donations for Movember. We will also be arranging a board for people to take part in where they can reply to prompts about Mental Health with sticky notes and create a positive board. Alongside this, we will arrange a memory tree where people can write names or messages of loved ones if they chose to as it is Remembrance month.

Mental Health Society collaborates with Self-Development for a positive journaling session where participants will be given the opportunity to relax and reflect on their week, as well as to work on writing positive messages in their journal. We will have positive prompts to encourage self exploration and writing, as well as opportunities to discuss their ideas and responses with others. There will also be an opportunity to develop an individualised positive affirmation that people can then use at the beginning of their day!

The Mental Health Society would like to invite our new and existing members to a 'Meet the Society' event. This is a space for members with any questions in regards to what our aims are, what kind of events we will be running through the year, what different committee members do as well as an opportunity for new students to meet new people. If you're thinking of running for any of the positions on the committee you can also engage in conversations about this.
Bring along a cup of tea, a coffee or whatever beverage or food that tickles your fancy and get comfy. If you don't have any questions but want some company then use this opportunity to take a relaxing break from the college work environment.
We look forward to seeing some old and some new faces. See you all on Friday from 12pm - 1pm.
