Handmaking jewellery from scratch given beads, pliers, bands, jewels, etc. This is an intersoc event with Yoga society.

Members of both arts and crafts society and Eastern European society will come together to create fun and amazing clay models. Members will be given slay that they can then shape into whatever their mind can think of.

Join us on the St Patrick's campus in the Java Students Hub to unwind during luchtime while drawing and chatting to fellow society members. This is an event run in collaboration with the Students Union and it encourages mindfulness and relaxation during this busy time of the semester.  

Members of both Art and Crafts Society and Drama Society will have a chance to decorate a special scratch of mask that will reveal colours from underneath!

DCU Arts and crafts and DCU style are joining forced for an Intersoc event where 2 members of the committee will teach a workshop on both crafts of embroidery and Crochet. 

Members will arrive at the room around 6 pm where they will be asked to find a place they would like to sit the committee will give out pencils and paper so the members can begin the drawing activity where they will draw a section of a painting. Once enough members gather the current committee will come to the front where the chair will start the egm process and new members will be elected to join the current committee. 

The members of the society will come into the room where they will find snacks to eat whilst the rest of the members filter in so we can ensure as many people as possible can get the full Bob Ross experience. Once enough members come in the committee will fill paint palettes and cups of water to all the tables so the painting can commence. The committee will do their best to ensure people have enough time to complete their painting without feeling rushed ambient will play while members paint to create a welcoming and relaxed vibe.   

This is an icebreaker event in which new members of the society will have the opportunity to meet and connect with fellow society members. To give them a taste of what our society does, we will also initiate some drawing games. To facilitate the interactions and creation of new friendships, we will encourage the members to play board games, while enjoying snacks.

Members and committee meet for the final event of the semester to play games and socialise with each other before the end of the college teaching year.

Join us for our Art Collaboration event where members work on a drawing and then switch their drawings with fellow members every 5 minutes. At the end, we will have a bunch of collaborative art pieces to showcase everybody's unique styles and ideas. 

Members meet for a tutorial on drawing the human figure. They will be taught the basics of drawing human anatomy and given some exercises to practice what they have been taught. 

Come on a hike to the Glendalough Trails with members of the Eastern European Society and Space and Robotics Club. 

Join us for a chill hangout to socialize with other members and elect the new committee roles. Feel free to step up for any position you find interesting to keep Artsoc alive and flourishing. 

To spread awareness about mental health and self-care, NiteLine and Arts & Crafts Soc will be creating a banner with everyone who wants to put out a message or memorialize themselves on a banner in the U. Stop by to put down your thoughts, leave a positive message, or draw whatever is on your mind. 

Join us for our joint event with Eastern European Society to create marvelous art with colored beads. Just think of a motive you'd like to design with your beads, add some water, and tada- you have a new cup coaster, a cute room decoration, or whatever else you can think of. As always, there are no limits to your creativity!

Join us for our Charm Making Event with HerCampus and FemSoc in honor of Galentine's/Valentine's Day! Get to know the beautiful members from the other societies while making little Shrinky Dinks which you can use as keychains, earrings, or any other use you can find for them. There are no limits to your creativity! 

Join us for some creative fan painting with members of Japanese society. Color in and draw on a fan which you can take home while chatting with other members.

Society members meet for a welcome back event where they will socialise with new and old members while playing a selection of board games

A social karaoke night that offers members the opportunity to mix and socialise with people from other clubs and societies 

Members will get a tutorial with tips and tricks on how to accurately draw faces and hands from various angles and can practice their drawing skills. 

Members will have the opportunity to learn about basic sculpting techniques and processes. They will then be able to independently sculpt something of their choice out of water-based clay.

This event will be an Intersoc with Eastern European Society where members can meet new people and catch up with friends while drawing canvases based on AI prompts. 

An online event to allow members to engage and socialise while playing fun multiplayer games during on midterm break. 

Members will all be tasked to draw a certain block of an image that has been divided into multiple squares. The drawings will be on paper and members will be drawing with pencils and watercolours. At the end of the event, we will join all the blocks to create a collaborative art piece.

This event will be an opportunity for any new members to get comfortable in the society and meet new people while previous members can catch up with old friends.

Members of the society will be given the opportunity to experiment with clay and create whatever they want with it.

Members of VSOC and the Eastern European Soc will have the chance to relax and paint on canvases. 

All equipment is provided by VSOC but feel free to bring your own!

Members of both societies will have the opportunity to customise their very own fans. 

All materials (paper fans, paints, brushes, etc) will be provided by VSOC.

VSOC and Mental Health Society members will have the opportunity to engage in art-related activities to relieve stress or relax.

Members will have the amazing opportunity to create art for OneInFour's art sale. OneInFour provides support to those who have suffered from childhood sexual abuse. 

Contribute to a great cause and come over to this event!

Members will have the chance to use their art skills to create different types of unique masks Halloween themed or more!!

Members will have the opportunity to practice their drawing skills through live observation. It will be a mix of still life and portraits.

So come over if you could use the practice :)

Members will have the opportunity to create pixel art out of Perler Beads. There's a limited amount of boards we can give to people, so members will need to book a spot for this event.

All you need to do is place the beads on the board to make your design.

Spray a bit of water to make the beads stick & wait for them to dry.

After that, you can slowly take the beads off the board and have your incredible creation!!

Arting can be hard sometimes, so come to our tutorial event to practice drawing faces and hands! There will be a small presentation giving some general tips and tricks as well as an opportunity to practice your skills and learn from others.  Bring your art supplies or use the supplies provided.

Are you stressed about projects and exams?

Well you can forget about them for two hours at our Game Night!!!

We'll have Jenga, UNO, card games and more!! So if you want to de-stress and spend time with friends, then join us!!

Members will have the opportunity to make their own charms out of shrinky dinks.

Shrinky Dinks is basically shrink plastic. You can draw on your designs with permanent markers, alcohol markers, paint markers and coloured pencils.

All supplies will be provided on the day but feel free to bring in your colouring tools ;)

Japanese Art Making Event.

Members will have the chance to create different types of Japanese Art ranging from origami, drawing manga/anime and much more!!!

The annual general meeting will give members a chance to gather as usual but also run for committee positions for the 2022/2023 semester 1

Still life drawing session using. Members can choose to use paint, pencil, crayons, charcoal or whatever other medium they choose. Feel free to bring your own art supplies, however the society will have a limited number of supplies available!

Valentine's card design event.

In collaboration with Anime and Manga society, we will be gathering to design valentine's inspired art and design pieces

People will be sitting together on tables and drawing/chatting/socializing while music is played. If the members decide to play drawing-related games, it will be done so.

Drawing supplies are provided by the soc.

Committee and members will arrive at 5 and are free to draw/paint/etc while watching a movie/documentary. Event ends at 7pm.

Starting from 5pm, society members and committee will gather for a casual hang out. Around 10 minutes in, committee will provide art materials for members to start drawing/painting/etc. Event ends at 7pm and committee will collect back equipment.

Intersoc event with the East-Soc with consent from the other society. Starting at 5pm, members will gather to chat and after 10 or 15 mins the committee will be giving out prompts for members to make posters out of. The event will end at 7pm.

Members will gather to be taught cartography by the committee and to draw and create maps of their own. 

We will be playing various online drawing games together, mainly skribbl and Gartic Phone. We will also showcase drawings on the board.

The Visual Arts and Design Society will be hosting our EGM!

This will be followed by an Inktober drawing session, so bring along your tools and get drawing with everyone.

The theme of the day is: Spirit.

6:40 PM - 8 PM - Streaming of 'Genndy Tartakovsky's "Primal"' 

Inktober is an international prompts challlenge for artists around the world. Each day of october has a one-word prompt on which people can brainstorm and produce a black-and-white art piece. Materials like ink, pens, black paint etc are allowed (including digital) as long as it is black-and-white (uninked pencil drawings are a bit too... non-inky to count, sorry). It is not obligatory to draw every day.

V-Soc has taken the opportunity to collect DCU's Inktober artworks and post them on our social media, with the aim to make a fancy collection of art pieces in the end. It will be fun to see how people draw the same word differently!

We, the committee of Visual Arts & Design Society, would like to thank all those that were able to make it to our first event last Tuesday. For those that weren't able, never fear! We have another coming your way, it's more of a serious one...our EGM! Here we'll give you a more detailed run down of the society as well as electing our 1st Year Rep! Welcome everyone to Visual Arts & Design Society!!!

It's wonderful to see new faces within our society!! We would like to invite you all to our first event on Tuesday 6th of October, taking place on our discord server from 6pm to 8pm. It'll be a small event where we the committee give a little introduction to the society and for ye to get to know us a little bit. Afterwards, we'll be holding a little game of scribblio to get our creative juices up and running. Hope to see you all there!
