The DCU Africa society’s second event will be our games night. This will consist of classic and modern games that will engage people and test their teamwork and competitiveness to win cash prizes and discounts to black-owned businesses. There will be a maximum of 35 players and 165 spectators. Although we don’t expect more than 175 in total to attend. Players and spectators will enter from the top entrance and be separated into the room by colored wristbands. At this event, we will start by announcing the results of our committee elections. Then our event partners will be announced, which will give players a clue about what prizes are at stake. Games will begin with a tournament system of 3 rounds. They’ll play against each other for the final prizes. |

As 1st Years are still on campus during reading week, it’s the perfect opportunity for them to get to know each other! This event will be a fun mixer for 1st year students in the African Society to meet new people and hopefully make new friends.
The event will be 2 hours long, from 6PM to 8PM on the 27th of October (Thursday). It will be held in SA105.
The event will be split into three parts, "Human Bingo" an icebreaker, "Walk in Debate" and finally the "Boy vs Girl" Challanges.
Human bingo will give the 1st Years a chance to get to know their peers as they walk around the room and ask each other questions from the bingo page. The first 1st Year to fill their sheet with unique names yells "Bingo!" and wins a prize.
The Walk in Debate will give 1st Years the chance to debate different topics and learn the different opinions of their peers, in a respectful manner of course. There will be different statements which the 1st years decide if they're FOR or AGAINST. They'll walk to the corresponding sides of the room. Different 1st Years from each side of the room will be given the opportinity to argue their beliefs.
The last activity for the evening will be the Boys vs Girls challeneges. The 1st Years will divide into two groups and play a series of games against each other. The games are: Song Association, Strawberry Lace game and Charades. Details of each game have been given in the Event Form.
The 1st Years will be treated to snacks (packs of crisps, jellies etc) and drinks (carton drinks, caprisun, etc) by the committee members. More details in the Event Form.
