About Airsoft Society

Whats is Airsoft?

Airsoft is an action sport that will get your adrenaline pumping, keep your heart racing, and leave you wanting more.

Airsoft is a sport where you can experience military-like tactics and combat skills without the fear of injury. We go on day trips to dedicated airsoft fields/sites that have different layouts, themes, and terrains. At these sites we play gamemodes that you may be familiar with from games like call of duty/battlefield, such as: conquest, kill-confirmed, rush, search and destroy, king of the hill, free for all, just to name a few. In Airsoft, players are equipped with airsoft guns that shoot plastic bbs. Airsoft requires good sportsmanship as when you are shot, you must raise your hand and loudly announce you are "hit", then proceed to walk back to your spawn point without giving away the position of the enemy to your team. Each game-mode has its own set of rules and objectives. For example, in 'Capture the Flag' two teams compete against each other to steal the enemy's flag and to return it to their base. This requires coordination and sneaky manoeuvring. Much of airsoft’s gameplay consists of trying to outsmart your enemies.

One does not have to be fit to play airsoft as airsoft allows for many different play styles, you can choose to go in guns blazing, or give sniping a try, or even try becoming one with the bush in a more stealthy play style. You choose how you want to have fun!

Does it hurt?

No, not really. Getting shot in airsoft is far less painful than getting shot in paintball. As long as you wear reasonably thick clothing, you shall feel no more than a little sting. Sometimes if you get shot up close you may have small red marks on the impact point afterwards, but the sting from those never lasts more than a few minutes. Besides, you can always go and show your friends your battle scars after a fun day of airsofting.

What we offer...

We are very beginner friendly and can supply a rental setup for those who need it. Our society wishes to introduce more people to this niche sport and we welcome everyone to give it a try.

Airsoft is unlike any other society in DCU as it immerses you in the chaotic and exciting world of action, all while allowing you to make great friendships that may even continue after college, both on and off the airsoft field.

We here at DCU Airsoft pride ourselves in organising, playing and mentoring the game we all love. We also make a promise to bring all this fun at a low cost.

Our plans....

This year we promise multiple trips to various airsoft locations in Ireland allowing you to experience the full potential of airsoft in Ireland. As well as that, we do society group orders which allow you to get airsoft gear with no shipping fees! We plan on hosting tech nights in which we assist you with any problems or queries you may have about your gear, and where we may also give basic and advanced training on how to use an airsoft gun, proper shooting stances, how to manoeuvre with a rifle, and how to be an effective airsoft player.

On top of all this, you don’t even need your own gear! We provide equipment for those of you that are new to airsoft and looking to try your hand at it! That includes a rental gun, magazines, BBs and face protection for the day trips.

Our members’ safety is our No.1 priority. We ensure that all our members understand the rules for their own safety and the safety of others. Safe game = Fun game. For those of you that want to buy your own equipment, we are more than happy to provide information and tips from well experienced players to help you set yourself up to become a champion.

How we can help you :)

We, like many other societies are making the transition to online communication, to what is being deemed the ‘New Era of Clubs n’ Socs’. Nevertheless, DCUAS is always here for its members. The Society have set up group chats and online forums via Social Medias so you are never more than a click of a button away. In these group chats and forums, we talk load-outs, site locations, tech-advice if there is a problem with your load-out, and we discuss tips and tricks so you too can become a better airsoft player. We discuss deals and bargains in shops around the country. We try to find deals on gear to help our players build their first load-out (…or their fifth). There is no experience needed to play airsoft. Our players range from seasoned players, to those with starter kits, to even those who have never heard of Airsoft before. So there is no excuse not to get involved!

Our committee is here to answer any of the question you may have about Airsoft via DCU email, or Instagram (Socials are listed below) so don’t hesitate. We also use discord for conversing about the sport, so be sure to join that via the link.

Sign up with us today and let the action begin. See you on the field Airsofters!
