AGM to elect our new committee followed by a quiz in XG14. The election will be run by our committee with each member giving some background on their role. 

Society movie night watching The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.                                          

Photography Style workshop with guest speaker Robert Danca, fotosoc member. he will be giving a presentation on finding your style in photography.

Fotocrawl event. Group divided into teams by choice or by the committee. Each team is given a film camera and given the link to a map they can follow on their phones. They will also be given various photo prompts for each stop along the route. The committee will be divided up between the teams where possible/ people who have been on a photo crawl before and the two events officers will be going between teams making sure everything is going okay. We will meet at 7pm at DCU and travel into town as a group. We will follow a short route between O'Connell street and Grafton Street beginning at 8pm, with stops in between and an extended stop halfway. We will then all meet together at 9:30pm to collect cameras and end the event.

Re-Mixer event to get people together for the first time this semester. There will be a photobooth for people to take pictures together that we will be making ourselves.

Discovering the beautiful city of Lisbon through various lenses. City tours, Museums, FotoWalks etc.

Online ticket sale for our trip to Lisbon. The tickets are priced at 50 euro for the deposit. They will become available for purchase only at 1:00pm on the 8th of December  It will be made clear that this is not the final price. At 2pm we will make a google form available for people to sign up for a waitlist for the trip, in case people drop out. Tickets will be available on the DCU Clubs and Socs website and people will only be able to pay by card

FotoQuiz in the pub The Back Page in Phibsbourogh. We will be meeting at 5:45pm to travel to the pub together/people can meet us there. The quiz will be Mc’d by the event officers Doireann and Harry and the rounds will be spread out to committee members. There will be prizes for the winning team and small prizes for second and third place. Teams of 5/6 , people can choose or we will organise them on the day. There will be max 7 rounds of 8 questions. The venue has a limit of 50 people for standing so the event will be ticketed to allow us to limit the numbers. The event will end at 9:30pm

As a result of the disruption associated with Storm Debi, we have made the decision to rerun the headshot event to give those who were unable to travel to campus to avail of the service. Event that gives any person in DCU the opportunity to get their headshot taken. It will cost 5 euro and each person will get a selection of photos that will be taken professionally and edited. The photos will be taken by members of the committee, with our own equipment along with equipment from the loans department from Multimedia. People can pay for the headshots in cash or via revolut. Our treasurer will be dealing with the payments

Fotowalk to St. Annes. Leave DCU at 2:10pm and travel via bus as a group. We will then follow a set route through the park and meet back up at the entrance we came in to travel back to DCU together. We will use the fotosoc group whatsapp channel to keep in contact with everyone while on the walk.

Event that gives any person in DCU the opportunity to get their headshot taken. It will cost 5 euro and each person will get a selection of photos that will be taken professionally and edited. A workshop that continues on from our beginner one earlier in the semester, that goes into more detail of photography. We will also be demonstrating how to do light painting photography and people will have an opportunity to try this for themselves. For this we will be going to different spots around campus and to St. Alberts Park.

Hosting s night for members to show up during reading week and have a casual night of playing cards, board games etc.

Workshop for beginners or anyone who wants to learn about the basics of photography. There will also be a presentation about the theme for this years Zine. Workshop will be run by members of the committee. 

Group Fotowalk to the National Botanic Gardens. We will meet at the U tents in DCU at 12:00pm and travel as a group on the bus. Location is easily accessible from DCU via bus. We will travel back to DCU as a group but people will be free to leave early is they need to. 

Mixer for new members.  A bingo will be held as an ice breaker so that new members will be able to talk to each other. With spot prizes to be handed out.

This event will show case this year's submissions for the Connection III - Reflect Photography exhibition.

Quiz being held in the Cat & Cage pub on Drumcondra road. We will meet at 6 outside the U on Tuesday 22nd of November and the get the 11 or 13 bus with our members. We aim to have the quiz started by 6.30/6.45pm and have a great night with everyone.

Do you have a camera at home but don't know to use it? Well, come to our DLSR Basic Camera Skills workshop, where we will show you how to use your camera and how to take some epic photos. Join us on Thursday at 7 o clock in the Henry Gratton Building, room TBC! We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

On Thursday, the 29th of September, Foto Soc is going to be having its first event of the year! We are so excited to meet our new members and to see our existing members. This Foto Soc mixer will be taking place at the Lawn. We are meeting at 7 pm at the benches near Londis. We will be playing Foto Bingo to get to know each other and we are doing a Foto Treasure hunt. And if that wasn't enough, we will be heading down to Nubar for a cheeky pint afterwards for anyone whose up for it ;) All is welcome and we cannot wait to meet you all! 

Members run for positions in next year’s society committee. The new committee is chosen from the votes of both the committee and society members present at the event. The newly elected committee will stay back at the end of the event when the other members have left and will be briefly introduced into the committee.

Members of the committee will gather on campus and separate into groups of 5-6 people, each group having at least one member from the committee keeping check of each member, whether they are present, lost or need to leave. They will each get a compact film camera with 36 shots each and we head into town together on the bus. Once in town, we follow a pre-destined route through Dublin City where members are encouraged to take cool pictures along the way. At the various stops, members will have prompts to inspire what pictures they can take as a group. At the end of the route, the cameras will be collected and the film will be sent off to be developed over the next week.

Members will get on a bus together to St. Anne's Park to talk and take pictures along a route that ends at Bull Island Beach. The aim to be along the Dollymount road to capture some nice pictures of a sunset and members too.

Members will be taught how long exposure picture work, and then shown what photographic opportunities to be had in relation to light and light painting. People will break up into groups to help take various different light painting experiment pictures. When time is up, they return to the meeting point to end the event and see the results. 

Members of the society who wish to learn and understand the basic elements and principals of photography are invited to a workshop that spends half the time teaching the necessary elements in a presentation, and then spending the second half allowing members to try out those skills. A manual camera app for phones will be recommended so members don't feel they need to have a big DSLR camera with them. 

The group will leave the Henry Grattan building together and head towards the bus stop to take a bus into town. Once the group has arrived in town the committee will assign smaller groups, with at least one committee member in each, in charge of the route and sanitation etc. There will be disposable cameras handed out to each group. The groups then will start following the given route and take pictures throughout the previously planned route.  The groups will meet again at 22.15, hand in their disposable cameras to the committee so that the pictures can get developed. The event officially ends at 22.30.

Outside event which will allow the opportunity for old and new members to come together. They can meet the new committee and ask any questions they may have about the society or the year ahead.

In this workshop, we will be covering all the basics of editing your photographs. There are so many ways to enhance your images through different techniques and tools. We will also be recommending applications and will run a short fun demo too.
