Are you ready to STAND against injustice and inequality in all its forms?

Are you ready to STAND together with those who are oppressed?

Are you ready to STAND up for a better, fairer world?

Welcome back, everyone! We are delighted to bring a fresh new perspective to our members on prominent injustice and inequality issues!

So, who are we?

Never heard of us before? We are a young society set up last year, one of many STAND societies across each 3rd level university campus. STAND ( is a not-for-profit that was set up in 2014 in response to the desire among students and young people in Ireland to learn more about justice and equality issues and take positive action. Our members come from a range of backgrounds but all have one thing in common: the desire to bring about positive change in the world.

After joining our international network, you will:

- Better your understanding of prominent national and global justice, equality, and human rights issues;

- Engage with renowned human rights, global social justice, and climate justice activists (to name a few), policy-makers, foundation founders and board members, non-profit organisations, politicians, judges, entrepreneurs, lecturers, leaders, educators, authors, podcast hosts, and many more that we have lined up for you!

- Grow a network of like-minded friends and peers for life;

- And prepare for life after graduation through multiple interactive practical workshops & events, panel discussions, social events, fundraisers, and competitions that the society holds throughout the year.

What are our plans for the academic year?

We will be holding a variety of workshops, panel discussions, social events, fundraisers, and more (exciting announcements coming!!) throughout the academic year on prominent national and international injustice and inequality issues!

We will be highlighting important issues throughout each semester. In Semester 1, our chosen injustice & inequality issues include the Black Lives Matter movement, Direct Provision, Women in the Workplace, Neurodiversity, Climate Justice, Student Activism, and more!

In Semester 2, we will highlight Homelessness, Social Stigma of the Traveller Community, Mental Health, Elder Isolation, Period Poverty, Sexual Assualt and Harassment, Consent, Women in the Workplace, and more!

We have multiple inter-society and inter-STAND campus collaborations planned! Big things coming for our members!

We want to hear from our members on which issues or causes you would like DCU STAND to work on this year! As a non-profit, we are at a distinct advantage to welcome renowned guest speaker, workshop hosts, and panellists for our events and more!

Want to hear from our members?

We held our very first DCU STAND Panel Discussion on Monday 12th on the BLACK LIVES MATTER Movement! It was a very successful panel with an amazing turnout, moderated by our very own chair! Our panellists consisted of DCU Lecturers, DCU Alumni, INAR Board Members, Human Rights Activists, Foundation founders, members of Direct Provision, and more!

Feedback from the panel:

'Really enjoyed it! Would definitely attend another one. Panellists were very informative!'

'Really informative and gave so much hope'

'It was a great event - it was beautifully chaired.'

'I was honoured to be involved, and it's really encouraging to see students running such events. The speakers were all very high calibre.'

Excited for more events?

We are holding our second panel discussion on 'Introduction to Student Activism' tomorrow at 6.30 PM. We have an exciting line-up of panellists speaking at this event! We encourage our members and those who wish to run for a position to join this panel to hear from our committee and how students can actively get involved!
